You need to keep your eyes upon the road while driving. But there’s so much else competing for your attention – stereo, satellite navigation, hands-free phone, or that steaming coffee in the cup-holder at your elbow.

And the design of dashboards dsn’t help. Too many are packed with switches and buttons, some too tiny and close-packed for all but the slimmest fingers to work easily. Which brings Motors.co.uk to ask: are the distractions too great for everyone’s good?
