Motors Most Deserving - the story so far...

25/01/12

Have you heard about our new ‘local hero’ competition? We’ve launched a national search to find the most deserving person to be rewarded for all their good work with £10,000 towards a car, plus £2,500 which will go to the charity of their choice. Visit the competition page at http://mostdeserving.motors.co.uk/

First of all, we want to say thank you to all the people who have taken the trouble to nominate their local heroes.  It’s not going to be easy to pick the shortlist, let alone a winner, judging by the amazing entries we’ve received in just a week so far.  The nominees range from people who have set up their own charities, through to unsung local heroes who devote so much of their time to helping out others in their local communities.

There are still five weeks to make a nomination (and there are no restrictions on the number of nominations an individual can receive), but here is an update about some of the remarkable people who have been nominated so far. This is isn’t the shortlist, just a sample of the memorable stories we’ve been hearing about.

From the East Midlands:
Margaret is described by her daughter-in-law as “the most deserving, caring, helpful person I know”, Suzzee adds that despite the “debilitating arthritis in her feet she would still walk a hundred miles to help someone less fortunate than herself.”

From the East of England:
Camilla is nominated by her daughter, Olivia. Olivia tells us that times haven’t been easy for the family, but Camilla always puts others first.  As well as looking after her elderly parents, she also helps out others in the local community.  The family think she definitely deserves a reward as “She NEVER stops and no matter what we all say to her she will keep doing it!”

From London:
Emma nominates Andrew Pirie. She tells us “After losing his beloved and beautiful mum in 2005, Andrew has set himself a challenge to raise £1million for charity in honour of her memory. He is doing anything and everything in order to reach his goal”. His fundraising page can be visited here http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/1million

From the North-East:
One of the nominees is Cheryl who runs a Guide and Rainbow Pack, but not only that, she looks after the girls across the whole district and has taken it upon herself to restore their Head Quarters.

We will be sharing updates from other regions around the UK soon, so keep coming back!
