Over 14 million people believe that you can tell more about a prospective partner by the state of their car

Research from Kwik-Fit has found that 14 million people believe that you can tell more about a prospective partner by the state of their car. Women were slightly more judgemental than men, with 44 per cent more likely to judge a partner as opposed to 40 per cent of men.

The survey revealed that 750,000 women would even date a man because they liked his car, with 250,000 admitting to rejecting a guy then liked because his motor wasn’t up to scratch.

A total 330,000 Britains admitted to staying in a relationship because they liked driving their partner’s car with 230,000 end a relationship if the car didn’t meet their standards.

David White, customer services director at Kwik-Fit said: “Whilst many people strive for a honed appearance to attract the opposite sex, it seems this can often count for little if their car is unreliable and has filthy paintwork, an oil leak and bald tyres.”
