Company releases more details of exact models affected and its plans to put them rightToyota has released more details of its plan to recall over 180,000 UK cars. The list of cars is shorter than feared. Seven models are affected: the iQ, Aygo (with auto gearboxes), Yaris, Auris, Corolla, Avensis and Verso.
Toyota has confirmed that, contrary to earlier announcements, in the UK the recall will not include the RAV4 or Aygos with manual gearboxes. Nor will it cover other Toyota cars or vans, or any of the Lexus model line-up.
The company is working with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency to contact registered keepers of affected models. The first shipment of modified parts is due in the UK next week and dealers should begin inspecting cars by February 10. The repairs, which include the fitting of a modified throttle mechanism, should take about 30 minutes to complete.
Toyota drivers can contact Toyota by calling 0800 1388 744 or by looking at the recall pages on Toyota’s web site here.
