Volkswagen opens order book for new Golf GTi

Just-launched new Golf will be the most powerful yet. First deliveries will be on May 22 Volkswagen Golf GTi Mk 6 Volkswagen Golf GTi Mk6 cabin Volkswagen has just opened its order books for the new, sixth-generation, Golf GTi. Prices for the car run from £22,410 for a three-door with a six-speed manual gearbox, and VW promises that anyone ordering now will have their car in time for the car’s official on-sale date, which is May 22.

One treat owners will have to look forward is a new 207bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. This is 9bhp more powerful than the 2.0 engine available in the Mk5 Golf, but manages to travel further per gallon of fuel – up to 38.7mpg overall. It will also emit less carbon dioxide – its official figure is 170g/km, down from the old car’s 189g/km.

Standard kit includes 17in alloy wheels, red-and-black tartan seats, a flat-bottomed sports steering wheel and two-zone climate controlled air conditioning.
