The Honda CR-V is a well-proportioned and futuristically-styled crossover, ideal for families or those looking for more interesting styling while maintaining reliability and economy.

As with many Hondas, the CR-V is offered in a dizzying array of specifications. That’s why we’ve picked out three of the best, taking into account three different price points.

The smart choice for saving money – CR-V S

The S sits at the bottom of the CR-V list, but still carries with it a huge amount of technology that is likely to impress most drivers.

First and foremost, customers will find 17-inch alloy wheels, body colour door handles and wing mirrors that are both electrically adjustable and heated. Drivers will also find LED daytime running lights, which incorporate halogen headlights with an automatic on or off timer.

Inside, drivers are treated to cruise control, a multifunction display and Bluetooth connectivity for making and taking calls handsfree. A DAB radio also features, as do four speakers and an auxiliary input for MP3 players and phones. Air conditioning is also included, as is electrically-adjustable driver seat lumbar control.

The CR-V S has an amazing amount of kit, given its starting price of just £22,775.

The smart choice for those on a budget – CR-V SE

The SE specification builds on the equipment offered with the S, but includes greater technology and driver aids.

Automatic windscreen wipers and lights are included, as are parking sensors for both the front and rear of the vehicle, making positioning the CR-V even easier.

Inside, there’s a rear air conditioning vent for passengers in the back, as well as a leather steering wheel and gear stick. Both the front and rear windows are powered – an useful addition over the standard S.

You’ll also find six speakers within the car, connected to a Honda connect 7-inch touchscreen system which incorporates DAB radio, internet browser and a rear parking camera.

The SE does mark a sizeable increase in price over the S, coming in at £28,060 without options.

The smart choice for technophiles – CR-V EX

The CR-V EX is one of the highest trim levels – and brings with it that all-important satellite navigation.

But it’s not just mapping that the EX has to offer. Drivers can now control their electric windows via the key fob, as well as remotely retract the door mirrors, too. Inside, the sat-nav runs through a Garmin system, controlled through a 7-inch touchscreen. This has similar functions to the SE.

Up front, the driver and passenger seats are electronically adjustable and heated, while one touch windows are also included. All of the seats in the interior are trimmed in leather, too. You’ll also find an electronic tailgate to make loading items into the boot even easier.

Thankfully, there’s very little variation between the specifications when it comes to safety. All cars feature ABS and brake assist, as well as front, side and curtain airbags. Whiplash-lessening front headrests are also included, making the CR-V one of the safest cars on the road today.

Of course, the added equipment on board the EX does mean that it commands a premium over other cars in the line-up, coming in at £33,060.
