Used Audi A1

The Audi A1 is Audi’s answer to the MINI, and a fine answer it is too. The A1 was designed to be more up-market than the MINI and more classy, though how well it succeeds at both is your decision, though certainly it is designed to appeal to a slightly different demographic.

The Audi A1 is a beautiful car and has an extremely high build quality. It is a kind of slightly understated Supermini that is altogether that bit more sophisticated than the rest of the bunch. The interior quality is of a very high standard too. Everything is well engineered and everything says quality.

There are several engine choices and the entry level is a 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol unit which develops 85 bhp. There is also a 120 bhp petrol engine and a 1.6 litre TDI. Top speed is around 116 mph and the acceleration is adequate with a 0 to 62 mph time of around 9 seconds.

Handling is very good with good levels of grip and very little body roll. The ride is comfortable for a car of this size and there is relatively little road and wind noise when cruising down the motorway. There is also a fair amount of storage space.

The Audi A1 is certainly one of the most desirable Superminis on the road. As it was launched in 2010 they are relatively rare as used cars, however examples of them are for sale across the UK from approved Audi dealers, independent traders and private sellers. No matter where you are in the UK, Motors.co.uk could find a deal on a used Audi A1 near you.

Currently the Audi A1 is roughly equivalent in terms of performance to the MINI, however a fast model is in the pipeline which has been designed to be the equivalent of the MINI Cooper S. Also an Audi A1 Clubsport Quattro has been demonstrated with a 0 to 62 mph acceleration time of just 3.6 seconds.
