Used BMW 1 Series

In 2004 BMW introduced a new line of small family cars, which was designated the BMW 1 Series. These cars are available as three or four door hatchbacks, a coupe and a convertible. This model is considered to be the entry level BMW, however, it still has the fundamental BMW prestige.

This car has grown in popularity. It is considered to be very good to drive and is certainly the lowest cost way of owning a BMW. There is a wide choice of engines, in fact there are seven of them, which means that you can choose to maximise economy or performance. The most economical Series 1 will return an economy of 64 mpg, while the fastest one will give you 264 bhp and will take you to 62 mph in just 6.9 seconds. Or you can choose just about anything in between; they are all excellent cars. Six-speed manual transmission comes as standard on models made in, or later than, 2006.

One major advantage with the 1 Series is that you get a hatchback with rear wheel drive, and that really can be an enormous safety advantage in certain road conditions, and great fun if you enjoy driving a car to its limits.

The 1 Series Coupe is a really attractive car and its sleek lines and improved performance add some really extra style to an already stylish car. With a twin turbocharged 316 bhp engine you can achieve 62 mph from rest in just 5.3 seconds. And of course if you like open top motoring the 1 Series convertible which was introduced in 2008 has it all.

There is always something special about BMW and although the Series 1 is an entry level car, it still has the merit of the BMW reputation which, no doubt, is one of the reasons for its popularity. So why not let Motors.co.uk find a deal on a used Series 1 BMW in your local area.

The latest model is the BMW Series 1 M Coupe. It has a turbocharged 6 cylinder 3.0 litre engine, which can output 337 bhp and a 0 to 62 mph acceleration time of 4.9 seconds. It has been described by some as one of the best handling cars on the road.
