Chevrolet Corvette

The Chevrolet Corvette is one of the most famous American muscle cars of all time; it’s a true legend of ‘Stateside’ motoring and has been going strong for over 50 years. Offering a huge amount of performance for the money, it’s terrific value and is also quite a rare site on British roads. With an unmistakably commanding presence, all versions sure to garner much attention and the most modern are certainly as much fun to drive as they are to look at.

Yes the Corvette was first introduced in the USA in 1953, and was an instant smash hit. Early models were seriously stylish, but later versions, particularly the 1973 Stingray variants, had exceptional performance too and helped shaped the ‘muscle car’ genre. Modern Corvettes are seriously powerful supercars that really don’t hold back. Available in both cabriolet and coupe forms, it’s hard to find something faster for the same amount of money.

Indeed style has always been an integral part of its make up, but the latest versions of the Corvette explore new realms of possibility. Gone are the sexy curves and classic designs- now you get something extra aggressive, in your face and exceedingly attention seeking. It looks great by any stretch of the imagination. Despite being quite a big car, it’s relatively cramped inside but comfortable nonetheless. A rather minimalist cabin is nicely finished and everything comes to hand easily; it’s certainly not European though. However a good level of kit and a big boot means it can compete with the big boys well enough.

At regular speeds it’s easy to drive, but if you crank it up a notch it’ll try to eat you. With a lot of grip and some clever suspension, it holds the road quite well and the steering is massively sensitive, which could be a shock to some. A bulky V8 engine is housed up front, and it delivers 500 horsepower with no problem at all. Refined it most certainly isn’t though, but would you have it any other way? A wonderful engine growl is constant throughout though, which is one of the best things about the Corvette.

Compared to other cars of its ilk, the Corvette is incredibly cheap. You get a huge amount of bang for your buck, and the fact it’s been around for donkey’s years means there’s no shortage of models to choose from. If you’re looking for the latest and greatest however, Motors.co.uk is the place to go as it has a monumental amount of used cars for sale listed at radically discounted prices. For a quality second hand Chevrolet Corvette, there’s almost nowhere better to go.

At the end of the day, the Corvette has been the same since its inception- a big, muscular performance car with striking designs and plenty of power. Chevrolet hasn’t re-invented the wheel at all, it has simply improved it year on year. Modern ‘Vettes are just stunning and demonstrate everything that’s good about American motoring in one awesome package. Excellent value, quite exclusive and a huge amount of fun, there’s not much that can beat this old war horse.
