The town of Redditch, which also gives its name to the surrounding borough, is located in the north eastern corner of Worcestershire. Featuring a population figure of around 79,000, it was twinned with Auxerre in France in 1956, and also Mtwara in Tanzania in 1986.
Despite not being at all coastal, the town was one of the largest produces of fishing tackle and hooks during the Middle Ages. It was also a centre for needle making. Fast forward a few centuries and Redditch was made a New Town in 1964, and much development caused the population to swell considerably. Mainly a commuter town for nearby Birmingham, traditional industries have been replaced with light manufacturing and retail.
Some notable places in the town include Bordesley Abbey, Forge Hill Needle Museum, the Kingfisher Shopping Centre and Arrow Valley Park. Interestingly, the Royal Enfield Motorcycle factory is also a tourist attraction for fans of 2 wheels.
In terms of a driving location, Redditch is actually fantastically placed. To the north there’s the Peak district, to the west is Snowdonia National Park and to the south west are the Brecon Beacons. Surrounded by countryside and farmland, getting away from the hustle and bustle of built up areas and cruising along B roads is as good as it gets for motorists.
The UK wide coverage and total ease of use makes Motors.co.uk one of the best places to find used cars for sale in Redditch, as well as Worcestershire county as a whole. Not only are there literally thousands of different second hand cars listed at seriously reduced costs, but the overall quality is extremely high indeed. As a consequence, it’s possible to drive away in something that meets your driving needs entirely for a small fraction of the regular showroom price. Sounds good doesn’t it?
