Renault Megane Cabriolet

The Renault Megane Cabriolet is a great option for those people who want a fun and funky car with a convertible roof. The small family auto is full of character and has a distinct flair about it that makes it very appealing. Nicely designed with a comfortable cabin, the most modern versions especially are great to drive at any time of the year.

Ever since the first generation of the Megane was released in 1995, a convertible version has always been available. Despite various design and performance upgrades over the years, the most notable change is that the latest variants are fitted with a hard top folding roof, whereas the originals were soft tops. Among the better cars in the ‘coupe cabriolet’ class, the Renault is front wheel drive and comes with a decent choice of engines as well.

Sleek and sexy all around, it’s not difficult to see why the latest and greatest 2 door Megane Cabriolets are some of the most popular. With a gorgeous front end that you can’t help but stare at, the rear is also nicely curved. Interior designs are just as good, and promote a light and airy feel to the cabin. Quality trim levels are evident, and there’s quite a lot of space, although the rear is rather small. Comfortable seats and an extensive gadget list are also part of the make up. With the roof up, the boot is cavernous, but put it down and quite a lot of space is taken up; this is only to be expected though.

The Megane performs quite well out on the road, but it’s nothing to write home about. It’s not as sporty as the designs suggest, and there’s a noticeable amount of body flex when the roof is down, although no more than other cars. The fact it’s front wheel drive means it grips the road nicely in the corners and is quite responsive and easy to manoeuvre. With a choice between a 1.6 or 2.0 litre turbo charged petrol engine, there are also a couple of diesels too in 1.5 and 1.9 litre variants. None like to be pushed hard, and are quite content to cruise around.

Renault asks for quite a lot to buy this car brand new, so checking out what’s available on the pre owned market is the best way to get a solid deal. At Motors.co.uk you’ll have a great chance to find a cheap used Renault Megane Cabriolet because the sheer volume of second hand cars for sale is just immense. Factor in an approach to quality that sees only the finest autos being listed, as well as heavily discounted prices and really there’s no better way to go about buying a car.

The simple fact is that the Megane Cabriolet is a good car that performs well. It’s built to a high standard, powered by some punchy but frugal engines and is easy to drive. The folding hard top roof means newer versions can be driven all year round, and excel in summer. With a Renault you’re investing in quality, and it’s certainly evident here.
