Rolls-Royce Ghost

The Rolls-Royce Ghost is a spectacular luxury saloon that’s absolutely beautiful in design and a real pleasure to get behind the wheel of. Smaller than the Phantom, this car is made to drive rather than be driven in, and is the absolute definition of elegance. Forget spruced up models from other manufacturers; if you really want to push the boat out, the Roller is the one to go for.

Revealed in 2010, the Ghost is indeed smaller and cheaper that it’s older sibling, but is still out of reach for most people. Armed with a massive 6.6 litre twin turbo V12, it’s just awesomely fast, despite weighing close to 2 tonnes. Intelligent suspension and computer aided driving assists make it drive superbly however, and the effortless with which is builds speed is astonishing. Assembled by hand, you can tell a lot of effort has been put into it as luxurious is nowhere near a good enough word.

As with all Rolls-Royce cars, the Ghost is just mesmerising to behold. It looks very sporty thanks to a low roof, a curved front grille and some wonderful lines. The colour schemes are just brilliant, and of course the ‘Spirit of Ecstasy’ sits proudly on the bonnet. The interior is just astounding and is as lavishly decorated and superbly spacious. A bit more ‘modern’ than the Phantom, the cockpit is a simple yet amazingly well equipped place to sit, and the rear passengers have enormous amounts of leg room. The rear hinged doors make getting in and out very easy, and the boot is also huge. However small the detail, nothing has been overlooked, and as a result it’s simply a work of art.

The Ghost is a big car, both in size and weight, despite attempts by Rolls to market it as a ‘baby’. However it drives superbly and is surprisingly agile thanks to heroic amounts of engineering. Blisteringly fast, the 563 horsepower V12 engine will have you going from 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 155 mph, although it’s electronically limited. The ride is like air, and there’s a phenomenal amount of grip through the corners. The only problem with this car is that you can easily blast past the speed limit without realising it, due to the graceful way it accelerates.

To be honest, unless you’re absolutely loaded there’s no point in looking at the Ghost. It’s monstrously expensive and you’ll still have to spend a small fortune even when buying second hand. For those people with the money to walk the walk though, Motors.co.uk is certainly the best place to look. Nothing but high quality cars for sale at reduced prices are available, and you can find a used Rolls Royce Ghost with total ease.

So it’s abundantly clear then that the Ghost is a real motoring marvel and redefines standards when it comes to luxury motoring. Stunning to look at, mind altering to drive and majestically decorated inside, there’s really no better way to drive around in opulence. While other brands might be extra special in their own right, none come close to Rolls-Royce. Set yourself apart with a car fit for royalty.
