Used Toyota Landcruiser

The Toyota Landcruiser is a four wheel drive true off-roader. It is a car with an extensive history dating right back to the 1950’s. Its fine pedigree includes the Toyota Jeep that was built for the American military and, since then, the car has been continually developed. If you are looking for a serious off-roader, then this could be the answer.

For such a worthy off-roader the Landcruiser is reasonably comfortable, certainly at slow and moderate speeds. It has large comfortable seats and there is plenty of both legroom and headroom all round and there is ample space for eight people. The build quality is very good as you might expect for a car of this price.

Although you might be tempted to buy this car for the school run, and it has safety standards that easily qualify it for such an enterprise, it might be a little bid of overkill. This really is a car made for some real off-road activities and is it an excellent tow car.

The latest model, which was launched in 2009, has just one engine choice. This is a 3 litre diesel unit that develops 171 bhp. It has a huge amount of torque and in the lowest gear the car has unbelievable pulling power.

This is very much a car for the enthusiast and, although not that common a sight on our roads, you will find that there are plenty of examples for sale across the UK from approved Toyota dealers, independent traders and private sellers. Wherever you are in the UK we will be able to find a great deal on a used Toyota Landcruiser near you.

The Toyota Landcruiser is probably the best four wheel drive off-roader for dealing with really rough terrain and there is plenty of sophisticated equipment to ensure that it is up to the task. There is a high and a low ratio gearbox, a semi-slip differential and, best of all, there is the Multi-terrain Select (MTS) system. With this, by pressing a button you can optimise the car’s setup for handling loose rock, mud and sand, rock or mogul (solid bumpy snow). You also select mogul when you do not know what terrain you might encounter.
