Alfa Romeo GTV
The Alfa Romeo GTV is a fantastic 2 door coupe that’s full of Italian flair and is just as impressive to drive as it is to look at. Undoubtedly stylish, it’s a performance hungry motor with a big V6 engine that’ll delight real petrol heads and provides something extra special for a relatively low cost. The truth is that Italian sports cars don’t have to be expensive, and this one is a prime example of excellent value for money.
While the GTV nameplate goes back all the way to the awesome Alfetta fastback from 1974, it’s actually the model from 1995 that mostly referred to. Short for Gran Turismo Veloce, the GTV is a relatively small 2 door sports car that’s available in both coupe and cabriolet (Spider) forms. Restyled in both 1998 and 2003, the Alfa was a fantastic looking car that certainly went out with a bang in 2005. Fast, beautiful to behold and a lot of fun to drive, it offered mere mortals a something similar to cars from more expensive Italian brands.
With its steeply raked body, a decidedly sporty appearance, some wonderfully strong lines and that famous front grille shield, the GTV was certainly bold and brave. It looked awesome, especially in updated trim, and the inside was just as good too. Finished to a high standard, it’s typical Alfa- lavish, sumptuous and full of panache. For something relatively small from the outside, there’s certainly no lack of space, but realistically the 2 rear seats are only there as a token gesture. It’s not particularly practical as the boot is tiny, but there is a generous amount of equipment which only accentuates its serious value for money.
This is a car that demands a good driving experience, and it delivers massively. Sharp and responsive steering, enough grip to put the Earth out of orbit and a finely tuned balance mean it’s epic in the corners but just as good in a straight line. A sporty ride and some quality engines, especially the V6, mean it goes like stink and sounds great in the process.
If you’re searching for a sports coupe that performs well and doesn’t cost a lot, the Alfa is the ideal choice, and the good news is that there are loads available to buy pre owned. At Motors.co.uk you’ll see thousands of high quality second hand cars for sale at massively reduced prices, and that’s the perfect recipe for bagging a bargain. A used Alfa Romeo GTV will give you a mountain of fun without blowing your budget.
Clearly then, for a car that’s full of thoroughbred Italian blood, lavish designs and no lack of performance, the Alfa GTV is very reasonable priced. It’s a quality sports coupe that makes getting out onto the road a hugely satisfying experience. While it might not be the most practical car in the world, it’s certainly lively and keeps things interesting. Great on all types of roads, it’s easy to live with and always puts a smile on your face.
