Cadillac CTS
The Cadillac CTS is a mid size American car that feels distinctly European. It’s attractive to look at, has a decent quality cabin and is actually good to drive. Quite well priced, it’s a good alternative to the likes of Audi, BMW and Mercedes, and can certainly give their established models something to think about.
It was released in 2002 and can be bought in saloon, estate and sport wagon forms, so clearly versatility is high on the list. Various different models can be found, and all of them have a definite sporty look about them with some interesting designs and solid performance. Some bulky engines and superbly engineered suspension and mechanics make it drive fantastically well. While Cadillacs in days gone by were soft, spongy and almost like boats, this is one is pert, poised and precise.
There aren’t many angles it doesn’t look great from, which is a nice change, and indeed the CTS is very striking. The bold, angular front end, sharp rear headlights and array of cool shapes mean it can really stand out in a crowd. A hugely upmarket interior is impressive, and the comfortable seats make it very welcoming. The quality finish and exuberant materials on the dash and centre console in particularly tasty. With 1 trim called ‘Sports Luxury’, there’s a huge amount of kit, and it’s organised in a logical way around the cabin. 5 seats and a relatively big boot make it practical as well as stunning
With a great drive that’s more European in nature, the CTS is very good indeed. It handles well and has a stiff chassis, which is totally different to what you’d expect. Nimble and lively, the handling is great but the ride might be too firm for some. There are some big engines, including a V6 petrol that get it up to speed nicely, and as an everyday cruiser it’s one of the better ones from over the water.
Despite its reasonable prices, there’s a great deal of scope to save some serious money with the CTS if you buy second hand. Here at Motors.co.uk big price discounts are the norm, and a no-compromise approach to quality means that every single car is the real deal. Pay less and get more with a used Cadillac CTS.
The bottom line is that the CTS is a luxury executive car that’s completely different to the stereotype associated with the Cadillac brand. It’s well engineered, nice to look at and a pleasure to get behind the wheel of. With a lot of cabin space, especially in the estate, it’s versatile and makes for a solid family car too. They haven’t left anything to chance with this one, and it’s all the better for it.
