Plymouth, DeSoto, Dodge, Imperial and Valiant were all successful umbrella brands of Chrysler, but the company also acquired Jeep and Eagle during the late 70s and early 80s. It’s clear the company became a giant in the automotive world and the trend has continued right into the modern era.
The company has created some fantastic cars over the years and has kept the original mentality of ‘affordability and durability’ right across the board. However, it proved flamboyance was part of the mix as well with the Plymouth Barracuda, GTX, legendary Dodge Charger and awesome Dodge Viper.
Numerous takeovers and changes in direction have sullied the Chrysler name somewhat in recent years, the Crossfire being a prime example. Despite this, it hasn’t failed to keep hold of its position as one of the giants of motoring and continues to do what it does best- produce a range of great cars that give you more for less.
