The Chrysler Grand Voyager is a large people carrier and it is based on an elongated version of the Chrysler Voyager. It was first launched in the UK in 2001 and there was a substantial upgrade in 2008. The 2008 upgrade addressed some safety issues with the previous model.
The Chrysler Grand Voyager has a reputation for being a particularly comfortable people carrier. It is very room and there is ample space for seven people with a reasonable amount of luggage capacity too, much more than in most people carriers. There are two engines available. The most popular is the 2.8 litre CRD diesel which develops 163 bhp and provides a 0 to 62 mph acceleration time of 12.8 seconds, with a fuel economy of 30 mpg. The petrol engine is a 3.8 litre V6 unit which produces 190 bhp, but the fuel consumption is 22 mpg. The standard gearbox is a six-speed automatic.
As a car for the larger family the Chrysler Grand Voyager is an excellent choice. It is reasonably priced and the general standard of build is very good, especially given the relatively low price tag. It might not be the most stylish looking people carrier around, but it is a very practical car.
