Fiat Punto Evo
The Fiat Punto Evo is a small hatchback that’s pretty much a face-lifted version of the Grande Punto. However it’s incredibly stylish, well equipped and is a lot of fun to get behind the wheel of. It’s a great value for money car that gives you a lot of bang for your buck, and overall it’s fantastic for people who want something pint sized that’s brimming with personality and Italian flamboyance.
The Grande Punto itself was introduced in 2005, and the Punto Evo followed in 2009. Featuring a new overall design and a selection of new engines, there’s plenty to get excited about, and actually the Evo is a great improvement on the original car. It comes in 3 or 5 door models, so whether you’re looking for something small and nippy or with a bit more space, both options are available.
With a very sporty appearance, the Punto Evo looks fabulous, especially with alloy wheels. The angular shape, body sills and almost rally like front end combine to produce one of the best looking small hatchbacks around. Inside it’s sleek and stylish with a high quality finish and some good materials. The cockpit is great to climb into, and all the controls are intuitive and within arms reach. Overall the seats are comfortable, there’s a huge level of equipment across 5 trim levels, and the boot is a decent size despite the cars pert rear end.
Wonderful to drive, the Punto Evo is everything you’d hope for in a small hatchback. It’s lively on the road, handles very well and has plenty of grip in the corners. Around town it’s more than confident, but open country roads and motorways pose no problems either. Despite a rather firm ride, it’s not uncomfortable and remains nicely balanced and precise. A series of new engines including a 1.4 litre MultiAir petrol and 1.3 litre MultiJet diesel. You get a good amount of go and a lot of fun as well as decent economy and low running costs.
