Honda NSX
The Honda NSX is one of the best sports cars ever made. It’s simply supercar royalty and is incredible in every regard. Stunningly designed, massively powerful and heavenly to drive, it’s actually easy to live with and remarkably cheap to run. Production might have ceased a while ago, but the legend lives on. This car is astonishing.
It first arrived on the motoring scene in 1990 as a response to the Ferrari and Lamborghini cars of the time, and quickly became a force to be reckoned with. With a rear wheel drive setup, it was powered by a monstrous 3.0 litre VTEC V6 engine that was mounted in the middle of the car. This provided superb balance and astonishing peformance. The overall package was one of total excellence, not least because of the inputs of Ayrton Senna, the legendary F1 driver. Over the years, several generations of the Honda were produced, and it was available in coupe and cabriolet formats. The NSX retired in 2005 with full honours and a distinguished record; it was a dark day in motoring history.
Honda designed the NSX to be as aerodynamic as possible, and it looks exactly how you’d picture a supercar in your mind. The low and sleek profile, sharp angles and rear spoiler are all there for a reason, but they also contribute to a phenomenal design. It is beautiful, but in a ‘scientific’ sort of way, and that’s just fine. The interior is comfortable, spacious and amazingly designed with a shed load of equipment. Although not as lavish as the Italian brands it competed with, the Honda was a functional and ‘business first’ car that didn’t disappoint in the slightest.
There really aren’t any adequate words to describe the driving experience. It’s better than awesome, stronger than epic and more divine than godly. Relatively quiet and relaxed at low speeds, once you put your foot down it becomes a totally different animal- a bone fide supercar. The stiff chassis and razor sharp handling make it incredibly easy to drive, and the amount of grip is of ‘oh my god!’ proportions. You can attack any type of corner and come out on top, and in a straight line it’s superhero fast thanks to the incredibly V6 engines that make the world flash by and sound brilliant too.
A real beast of a car, the NSX can be gotten hold of pretty cheaply these days second hand. Obviously the high end versions are still expensive as they are collector’s items, but a ‘regular’ one can be a real bargain. You’ve already won half the battle because finding somewhere with a good selection can be a challenge, but Motors.co.uk makes it easy. The ultra low prices, huge selection of cars for sale make it a real motoring paradise, so you’ll pay less for a used Honda NSX and be able to enjoy it much more.
The inescapable truth is that the Honda NSX was and still is a sublime sports car that gets the heart pumping. Fantastic to look at, truly incredible to drive and actually very easy to live with, it ticks all the right boxes and some you never knew existed. Possibly the best thing though is that you can get one for bargain basement prices, which means that there’s still life in the old dog yet and it can once again reclaim its position of glory as one of the best cars ever made.
