Honda Odyssey
The Honda Odyssey is practicality defined. It’s a large MPV that’s been around for a while, but seems to have gotten better and better with every new model. Hugely spacious inside, it’s built to a very high standard and has everything a family would need, but most importantly 7 seats. It really is amazing.
Introduced in 1995, the Odyssey is hugely popular around the world, especially in the USA, and is known as the Shuttle in Europe. The most modern versions of the Honda are just awesomely designed, and really set themselves apart in the people carrier market. Sharp, angular and incredibly futuristic, everything from the front grille to the notch taken out of the bottom of the doors, and the sleek windows make it look like fabulous. Insider there’s a cavernous amount of room, and comfort is definitely a high priority. A simply phenomenal amount of kit that includes HD TVs, a quality audio system and climate control means you really can relax in style. The boot is huge, there are loads of storage areas inside, and overall the cockpit is intuitive but very stylish and ‘techy’.
With a driving experience that’s very easy and predictable, the Odyssey is a brilliant cruiser. The steering isn’t the sharpest in the world, but there’s no lack of traction thanks to the 4WD setup. Some nice engines, including a 3.5 litre V6 makes it relatively energetic and quite sprightly for such a big car, but it’s not overly quick. That doesn’t matter to families though.
There are so many different models of the Odyssey to choose from that buying one second hand is a one way ticket to bargain heaven. While the latest versions are more difficult to get hold of in the UK, it’s not impossible.
