High Wycombe
Located in the county of Buckinghamshire, High Wycombe is north west of London, south east of Oxford and south of Milton Keynes. While the town itself has a population of 93,000, the surrounding High Wycombe Urban Area, a conurbation, is home to over 120,000 people. The town is twinned with Kelkheim in Germany.
It has been a market town since the Middle Ages, and gained market borough status in 1237. Other industries such as textiles, paper production, and most notable furniture making had become well established by the 19th century. The latter in fact carried on right into the 1900s, although by the 60s it had declined somewhat.
High Wycombe was famously used as an RAF base during the Second World War for Bomber Command and the station is still operational today.
Much redevelopment has been seen in the town, especially in the centre, with the Eden Shopping Centre, supermarkets and apartment buildings being created. Other places of interest include the Chilterns Centre, Wycombe Swan theatre, Hughenden Manor, and Desborough Castle.
Buckinghamshire is the quintessential county for driving because it hasn’t changed much over the years- there’s still all the open country that appealed to people back in the day, and some of the roads are exceptional. It’s a place you can explore to your hearts content and never get bored. High Wycombe boasts some great connections to other places as well.
It’s so easy to find cheap used cars for sale in High Wycombe if you shop at Motors.co.uk because it’s one of the best websites in Britain. With a huge selection that includes pretty much all types of auto, prices are significantly lower than elsewhere too, not to mention a higher standard.
