Brighton
The seaside town of Brighton is located in the county of East Sussex, on the south cost of England. Forming the majority of the city of Brighton and Hove, it has been a hugely popular destination for tourists since the 18th century.
History of settlement in the area dates back as far as the Neolithic period, however it was during the Roman occupation that the first major focal point was established in the form of a first century villa. Known as Brighthelmstone for much of the Middle Ages, it was destroyed in the 16th century, but regained prominence as a health resort in the 1800s. Brighton has since matured into one of the most popular locations in Britain.
Some famous landmarks include the Pier, Royal Pavilion, Grand Hotel, Electric Railway and The Lanes; most of which are from the Victorian. Numerous churches can also be found, but possibly the best thing about Brighton is the immaculate beach; it’s easy to see why so many tourists are attracted when the summer months make the town come alive.
A centre for culture, arts and music in particular, Brighton regularly hosts festivals that range from big international acts to small local bands. Sport also plays an important part in the town’s life, with Brighton & Hove Albion football club and Sussex County cricket club among the myriad of athletic organisations located there.
Due to its location, drivers can enjoy coastal roads, good motorway connections to the likes of London, and B roads galore. What better way to spend time than cruising around with the smell of the sea in the air and a smile on your face?
