Clacton-on-Sea
As its name suggests, Clacton-on-Sea is a coastal town, and is located in the county of Essex. Situated on the Tendring Peninsula, it was founded in 1871 as a seaside resort. Although not as popular now as it was back in its prime, it still attracts a great deal of older people as a retirement area.
The population of Clacton is around 54,000 and these days it’s notable for the excellent beaches, carnival, and annual air show, which features a wide range of modern and historic aircraft. With a local football team and a cricket club, some notable landmarks include the large pier, offshore wind farm and St John’s church, the oldest building in the town.
Even though history in the general area goes way back to 400,000 BC, it was during the 17th century that Great Clacton, as it was known, became popular as a smuggler’s port. However, as a tourist destination, the 19th century is when it really came to prominence, and it remained notable until the 1950s. A Butlin’s holiday camp was also located in the west of Clacton until 1983.
With some good road connections such as the A113, the wider area is great for driving as there are more back roads than you can shake a stick at. Farmland galore means it’s exactly what you’d expect of a jaunt in the country, complete with hedge rows and other stereotypical things. A lot of fun it is however.
One of the best things about buying used cars for sale is that you’ll pay considerably less than show room prices demand. Motors.co.uk has a great collection of second hand cars in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex as a whole and, in fact all over the UK. As well as the ridiculously low prices, quality is superior to other places out there, and you’ll be able to drive away in a bargain in no time at all.
