Waterlooville
Waterlooville is a town in the county of Hampshire that is just north of Portsmouth and east of Southampton. Its population figure stands at 65,000 and it’s twinned with Maurepas in France and Henstedt-Ulzburg in Germany. Together with several towns around it, the South Hampshire conurbation is formed.
With origins allegedly related to the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, the town grew as a support base to Portsmouth. These days it is more of a small commuter town, and some stand out features include the local football club Havant & Waterlooville FC, the cricket club, numerous old pubs and churches.
Waterlooville is part of a large urban area on the south coast, but it doesn’t take that long to travel inland and find some almost deserted but nonetheless fantastic driving roads. The New Forest is positioned to the west, but all around in general there’s no lack of quirky villages and B roads to cruse around. London is within reach via the M27 and M3 as well.
