Boston is a small town near the coast of Lincolnshire. Directly north of London and south east of Lincoln, it has a population of around 35,000 and is twinned with Laval in France, Hakusan in Japan, and most notably Boston in the US state of Massachusetts, which was created by emigrants from this considerably smaller area.
A market town, agriculture has been the main industry for many years, and considerable trade went through the port as far back as the 12th century. The situation in relation to the Low Countries made it the perfect location for merchants and guilds alike. The development of new docks and wharves in the 19th century saw Boston rise to prominence again.
With a distinct similarity to some areas in the Netherlands, to the extent that a plethora of windmills can be found, the town was frequently used by film makers to portray the country. Some other landmarks include the church of St Botolph, aka the Stump and Hussey Tower.
Nowadays though, there are a number of sports associations, including Boston United F.C, in addition to rugby, rowing and even speedway clubs. Despite the somewhat active sounding culture however, the town has one of the highest obesity rates in the UK.
The somewhat rural location plays into the hands of drivers perfectly, because there’s almost no end of B roads to explore. Going for a drive in the country is very much on the cards, and a lot of fun can be had, especially in summer. Explore ‘big sky county’ at its best.
The fact that Motors.co.uk lists literally thousands of different used cars for sale is a pretty good indication that finding an excellent second hand bargain in Boston is very easy. No matter what kind of auto you’re looking for, you’ll have no trouble finding the right one here. Best of all though, prices are heavily reduced and quality is superbly high as well- it’s a winning situation all round!
