Instead of producing larger GT cars as was done in the previous decade, the company reverted back to its original philosophy of producing small cars with a powerful punch. Immense handling became the hallmark, and even today no other make of car can rival the poise and precision offered by a Lotus.
Racing is in the company’s blood, and throughout its history Lotus has been a powerhouse in Formula 1. What it learnt on the track was applied to its road cars. With 73 race victories, 7 constructor’s championships and 6 driver’s championships, Lotus is one of the most successful teams and its iconic black and gold liveried cars were driven by greats such as Graham Hill, Stirling Moss and Ayrton Senna.
