Nissan Pixo
The Nissan Pixo is a small city car that’s typically Japanese and has a friendly and approachable look to it. Designed to be budget friendly, the Pixo is cheap all around, and its low running costs are particularly impressive. However it’s well built, quite stylish and very easy to drive. Urban dwellers, new drivers or people looking for low cost motoring should seriously take a look.
Launched in 2008, the Pixo was produced in conjunction with Suzuki, which sells it as the Alto. It’s the ideal car to keep your finances in strong condition.
Quirky and funky from the outside, the Nissan is a lovely looking car. The bulbous headlights, eye catching front end and pert rear make it perfectly formed and certainly not representative of its price. On the inside however, it is rather cheap, but that’s not a problem. An adequate amount of space, comfortable seats and an easy to use set of controls make it accessible for families especially. Truth be told there’s actually a good build quality and it’s finished reasonably well. While the boot is tiny, it’s accommodating with the rear seats down, but overall levels of practicality are mid range.
Designed for city driving, the Pixo is a great way to get around. It’s sprightly and easily manoeuvrable thanks to its tiny size and sharp steering, so negotiating traffic and parking in tight spaces aren’t an issue. Good all around visibility means you can always see what’s heading your way, which is important these days. In the corners it handles well and the ride is nice and soft, but you only get a small 1.0 litre engine that works well at low and medium speeds but suffers on motorways. It’s very economical though.
By any stretch of the imagination, the Pixo is cheap, but with some serious price discounts available if you buy second hand from Motors.co.uk, the numbers keep falling to mind bogglingly low levels. What’s more, quality is very high across the vast range of cars for sale, so you really will get a great deal. A used Nissan Pixo delivers the maximum amount of fun for the most minimal of costs.
So while other small cars claim to be cheap, the Nissan Pixo trumps them all. But what you get is a car that obviously hasn’t been told its meant to be budget friendly because it looks great both inside and out, drives like something much more expensive, and is a lot of fun. Strongest around town and scurrying along at low speeds, it’s an excellent everyday option that promises a lot and delivers in spades.
