Peugeot 206 S
The Peugeot 206 S sits in the middle of specifications and really does offer excellent value for money to those people who want a small hatchback that looks great and does exactly what it says on the tin. Well equipped, easy and fun to drive, and nothing but usable everyday, this 3 or 5 door family sized motor might be a few years old but the appeal is definitely still there. With good scores in terms of reliability and safety as well, there’s obviously a lot to be impressed with, and engines range from 1.1 to 1.4 litre petrols, plus 1.4 to 2.0 litre diesels.

You’ll find the likes of air con, CD stereo, steel wheels, cloth sports seats, electric windows, front and side airbags and a whole lot more; the 237 litre boot keeps things nice and practical too, on top of the decent cabin space. Driving wise the S is a bit sporty, easy to control and great around town especially. Pay £2,000 used and get your hands on a bargain!
