Those people looking for an incredibly affordable family car with a shed load of character, great reliability and frugal fuel economy really couldn’t do better than the Peugeot 406. Well designed, ergonomic and actually pretty high quality, there’s not much the 406 can’t do.
In terms of the driving experience, the 406 is more than good enough for families these days. It handles well, has a comfortable ride and doesn’t cost a lot to run. While there’s a muscular 3.0 V6 engine for those people looking for a bit more performance, on the whole you’ll find a frugal tone with ‘normal’ versions. Ideal in towns, on country roads and even on motorways, the Peugeot certainly has a few tricks up its sleeve.
