The Espace is a large Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) from Renault, which seats seven passengers. The first version is often credited as being the world’s first MPV, and subsequent generations of the car have built upon the original’s family-focused specifications. Renault is a huge French car manufacturer, whose alliance with Nissan makes it the world’s third biggest automaker. Its core market has remained buoyant within the European mass market, though the company is also known for its role in motorsport and Formula 1.
This car has a strong reputation for being a comfortable ride with sharp handling, with even those in the back getting a smooth journey. It has large, thickly padded seats plus a wide range of possible adjustments to the steering wheel. The front seats can also swivel to face the rear. It’s also a very quiet car in motion, which is not something you can say about all people carriers.
A used Renault Espace is relatively cheap to run for such a big car, and the engines are powerful and reliable. In terms of safety, there are front, side and cushion airbags as standard plus Isofix child-seat mounts on two of the back seats. Every model has deadlocks, which prevent a door being opened, even if the window has been smashed.
The dashboard has a TomTom fitted, which is complemented by a dual-zone climate control, automatic lights and wipers, rear parking sensors, alloy wheels and side and rear sunblinds.
