Rover 75
Rover is an auto manufacturer that’s synonymous with being English and everything good that goes along with it. Unfortunately however, it had a fate similar to the national football team: outclassed by the Germans and knocked out of the running early, probably on penalties, despite a wealth of support. Rover’s last hurrah was the 75, and was certainly the star player of the team.
Produced from 1999 to 2005, the Rover 75 was available as a saloon or estate. Several generations and facelifts were released, but even today it’s still respected as an excellent car, and it’s easy to see why. With an exterior design that blends luxury and solidity, there’s certainly an element of boldness to it. The interior of newer versions could be called contemporary, but it’s well made, quite durable and pretty comfortable to say the least.
The 75 has a decent amount of space inside, although the boot can be quite a squeeze with the seats up. The cabin is a genuinely nice environment, and coupled with a supremely comfortable ride, you really can cruise around in luxury. With a remarkable balance to it, the car handles well and the steering is sharp and has a huge amount of feel to it. From motorways to country roads, the 75 can hold its own almost anywhere, and with some nice engines to choose from including a 4.6 litre V8, it certainly won’t hang about.
Due to the fact the 75 has been out of production for a few years, there’s a wealth of opportunity to get hold of a fantastic deal. At Motors.co.uk there are thousands of used cars for sale to take a look at, and spotting a decent second hand Rover 75 is very easy indeed. Paying less and getting excellent value for money is what it’s all about, and it’s more than possible here.
Clearly then, the Rover 75 is a solid car that offers something different from the invasion of similar European and Japanese autos. Despite being an older statesman, it’s excellent value and has a decent amount of kit as standard. If you’re looking for something that’ll give you a lot of bang for your buck, this car is a serious contender.
