Seat Cordoba
For those people who loved the Seat Ibiza but want a bit more room, the Cordoba is the logical and perfect choice. Essentially just a longer, roomier version with a larger boot, you know what? It’s not half bad. If you want something cheap to run, relatively versatile, spacious and quite reliable, it’s well worth considering.
Revealed in 1993, the Cordoba was available as a saloon, estate and coupe. It was also Seat’s official WRC rally car for a time, but that’s another story. Although it never really caught on in the UK, the Seat was popular around the world and had some solid sales figures until production ceased in 2009. A huge range of engines were offered, and the list only grew with each new generation and upgrade. There’s no question that this car offered a lot to the public.
While the originals are fairly non-descript and slightly boxy in terms of design, the most modern are anything but. Featuring a front end with attitude and a cute rump, there are some lovely curves over the bodywork, as well as some strong lines on the bonnet. There’s a similar sort of character to the inside as well, which can comfortably seat 4 adults. A tactile cockpit with a solid amount of equipment and durable materials mean it’ll stand up to every day use. The boot is quite large as well, especially in the estate, which justifies choosing this car in the first place.
Taking DNA from the Ibiza, a superb handling car, the most modern version of the Cordoba are just as fun to drive. With a lively approach, there’s never a dull moment and cornering is a lot of fun. The ride isn’t the most forgiving in the world, but unless you drive over a road with quarry like pot holes it’s fine. The engines are sprightly and provide enough power to keep things interesting, without sacrificing economy, but the 1.9 litre turbo diesel is particularly hot.
Even though the Seat wasn’t hugely popular in the UK, there’s still a load available to buy second hand here at Motors.co.uk. The uncompromising approach to only listing the absolute best cars means you can be sure to find something in excellent condition, and best of all prices are significantly reduced. Used cars for sale are ideal for everyone, especially those people on a budget, and a second hand Seat Cordoba will provide terrific value for money.
Basically the Cordoba is a larger version of the popular Ibiza, but has some features of its own that makes it stand apart. A spacious cabin, decent boot space and quality driving experience are all plus points, and overall you get a lot of bang for your buck. Families or people with limited finances should consider the Seat a great deal.
