Seat Toledo
The Seat Toledo nameplate has been applied to several different types of car over the years, but the most modern versions are family sized hatchbacks that don’t skimp on space or design. Essentially a bigger and bolder version of the Altea, the Toledo performs its role as excellently and is definitely worth considering if you’re in need of spacious auto that ticks all the right boxes.
Originally released in 1991, the Toledo was two different models of saloon and the most recent hatchback over its life until production was halted in 2009. The 1998 saloon in particular was noteworthy as a great all rounder. The modern incarnation was created for those people who loved everything about the Altea but wanted a bit more room- talk about niche. What you get is a quality car with a lot to offer.
The designer clearly knew what they were doing with the Toledo because it looks awesome. From its angular shape to the distinct lines running along its body, and even the cute curvy headlights, it’s not one to disappear into the background. The interior is sporty and spacious, with more than enough room for 5 people to sit in comfort. There are 3 trim levels which have varying amounts of kit, but overall the finish is to a great standard. Practicality isn’t an issue thanks to the Toledo’s height and massive boot.
Usually Seat cars are quite sporty to drive and have an obvious Spanish flamboyance; the Toledo is no different and performs superbly on the tarmac. The handling is good and sharp, but the ride could be a little firm for some. There’s more than enough food for thought in the engine department too, with several punchy petrols and dynamic diesels to check out. In all honesty you wouldn’t expect to go especially fast in a family car, but the Toledo can keep up with most things out there.
