Skoda Fabia Estate
Skoda cars are renowned for being great value for money, durable and versatile. The Fabia estate is all of those things, and many more, but ultimately it’s an excellent car for people on a budget. What the Fabia proves is that you don’t have to sacrifice quality to get something cheap, and actually it’s nice to drive and doesn’t cost a huge amount to run either.
The original Fabia was released in 1999 and is marketed as a supermini. Aside from the estate format, it’s also available as a saloon and hatchback, however the estate is arguably the best as it provides the most amount of room. There have been a number of upgrades since its introduction, but it has to be said that the newest generations are much larger in size and are more suited to the ‘leisure activity vehicle’ class due to a significantly taller ride height.
While it’s not the best looking car out there, the Fabia estate is more geared towards function than form. It’s not ugly though, and has a certain conservative attractiveness about it. It’s nothing like other cars in its class, and that if anything makes its stand out. The interior is just as durable looking as the exterior, and is well laid out, practical and actually pretty spacious. There are some good quality materials and the seats are comfortable, so overall it’s quite a homely place to be. An impressive equipment list across the various trims and a huge boot make it a very enticing option.
Despite its relatively understated designs, the Skoda drives very well indeed. It’s easy to control and the ride is great too. Precise steering coupled with a nice balance and a wide choice of engines mean it can be as perky or frugal as you like. The Fabia excels as a cruiser, but can tackle city streets or regular roads just fine too. Considering its price, you get a fantastic all rounder that’s always worth a look.
Listing upwards of 150,000 different used cars for sale, it’s not difficult at all to come across a second hand Skoda Fabia estate at Motors.co.uk. The best thing is that prices have been well and truly slashed, so you’ll pay a lot less for a car that’s seriously good value to begin with. Hooking yourself a whale of a bargain has never been so easy.
Plainly then, the Skoda Fabia estate is a wonderful all rounder that gives prospective supermini buyers food for thought. It performs well on all levels, but some aspects that really stand out are the impressive interior space, huge number of engines and the surprisingly good driving experience. If you want something cheap and cheerful that’s always happy go take to the road, the Skoda is the one to go for.
