Used Subaru
In the world of motoring, Subaru is most famous for one thing- rally. The Japanese company has a long history of motorsport success, but it’s certainly not a one trick pony. With a range of cars that include compacts, saloons and SUVs, it offers a rough and rugged approach to driving which is incredibly popular.
Established in 1953, Subaru’s very fist car was the 1500- a compact model with an economical engine. Subsequent cars were also small but perfectly formed and included the 360, 1000 and R-2. The Rex, Leone and BRAT carried the company through the 1970s and bolstered its reputation for creating unfussy cars that got the job done no matter what.
It wasn’t long before the brand experimented with performance however, and the Alcyone (also known as the XT or XT6) was its first offering. A 2 door coupe with a decent sized engine, it featured a four wheel drive system that would become the mainstay of future Subarus, along with vastly improved designs compared to previous models.
Following this the long running Legacy, legendary Impreza and durable Forrester were created. The Impreza in particular became the company’s flagship performance car and has been used to devastating effect in the World Rally Championship since. The Tribeca and Exiga were added to the line-up in 2005 and 2008 respectively, and took the company in a new direction in terms of style.
The main features that make Subaru cars stand out from the crowd are a fantastic 4 wheel drive system, unique boxer engine, incredible handling and unrivalled robustness. There’s just nothing better if you’re looking for a car that can survive the elements and still be a pleasure to drive. With numerous awards, the popularity is undeniable.
While they are rough and ready in nature, buying a brand new Subaru will set you back quite a bit, although compared to cars for sale from other companies they are still reasonable. Despite this, you can shed load of money with a used Subaru from Motors.co.uk. Huge price reductions and high quality mean a fantastic deal is always there to be caught.
So even though the company started with small autos, those available today are anything but. With bags of personality, a whole heap of performance and an a ‘raring to go’ attitude, you’d be hard pressed to find anything better than a Subaru!
