Used Toyota Verso
The Toyota Verso is effectively a people carrier version of the best selling Toyota Corolla that was phased out of production in the UK in 2006. The Verso, which was first launched in 2002, is still in production.
Although the Verso is ostensibly a people carrier of the Corolla, this is a little misleading as the Verso is based on a completely different chassis than the Corolla. In fact the Verso chassis is in many ways superior (as well as being larger) and improved the handling characteristics of the car.
The Verso was first introduced in 2002 but was not an immediate success, It came under criticism for its chunky appearance at a time when sleek was the modern look. As a result, in 2004, a much restyled Verso was launched and this was a huge improvement on its predecessor, altogether a much better car. A more recent model was launched in 2009.
Earlier models of the Verso are available with five alternative engines which include 3 diesel and two petrol units, the most powerful of which develops 175 bhp which gives it a 0 to 62 mph acceleration time of 8.8 seconds and elevated the car to just about the speediest people carriers around. Cars manufactured after 2009 have one petrol and two diesel options.
A used Toyota Verso is a very good buy. These are very reliable cars and you will find many fine examples for sale across the UK from approved Toyota dealers, independent traders and private sellers. No matter where you are in the UK, we will help you to find a deal on a used Toyota Corolla near you.
The latest version of the Toyota Verso emphasises fuel economy rather than performance, though to a large extent it offers both. The most economical version is the one powered by the 2 litre D-4D diesel engine which returns 51 mpg – not at all bad for a seven seater.
