Vauxhall Astra Envoy
The Vauxhall Astra Envoy is an entry level trim that might be a few years old but has bags of appeal because of the absolute value for money. While it might not win any awards for modern designs, what you get is something solid that just works and is perfect for new drivers, people on tight budgets and even families. With a decent amount of equipment, it’s practical enough for daily use and really does have solid safety and reliability scores. Under the hood you’ll notice 1.4 and 1.6 litre petrol engines, as well as 1.7 and 2.0 litre diesels.
The Vauxhall Astra Envoy has some character about it, even though it’s not the most stylish motor in the world. The interior is quite robust and comfortable, and there’s a decent amount of room inside. Kit wise you’ll find the likes of cloth seats, steel wheels, body coloured bumpers, airbags, electric windows and remote locking; while it might be relatively basic, you don’t buy this car expecting an array of gadgets and gizmos. Out on the road, the Envoy is calm, composed and always in control. The ride is positive and there’s responsiveness in the corners too. You’ll pay £1,000 used.
