The Vauxhall Meriva is a modestly sized people carrier with plenty of internal space and a good level of comfort. It is also very reasonably priced. The car was launched in 2003 and a new version was introduced in 2010 which brought its appearance more up to date, and is somewhat larger and generally more refined than the original.

The model with the highest level of performance is the Meriva VXR which is a kind of cross between people carrier and hatchback. It has 17 inch alloy wheels, sports suspension and is powered by a turbocharged 178 bhp 1.6 litre petrol engine, which gives it a 0 to 62 mph acceleration time of 7.9 seconds. There is also a button that you press when you need even more power, which gives it a five second power boost.
