Small sporty cars are something Vauxhall seems to do very well, and the Tigra is a great example. It might be pint sized, but it’s full of character and is ideal for those people who want a lively driving experience without spending loads on a full blown performance machine. The name might sound carnivorous, but really it’s a pussy cat that’s looking to have fun.
There have actually been two production variants of the Tigra over the years. One was a small coupe manufactured between 1994 and 2000, and the other was a hard top convertible that was on sale from 2004 to 2009. Both tiny and full of life, the latter was much more popular thanks to a better driving experience and that all important drop top.
The newest models of the Tigra cabriolet are very attractive to look at indeed. Angular lines, alloy wheels and a serious amount of body rake create a no-nonsense demeanour, but overall you wouldn’t think twice about calling it stylish. The interior is more subdued, but it’s comfortable, well equipped and quite contemporary nonetheless. While there’s a decent sized boot with the roof up, there’s an array of storage spaces in the cabin. Really you wouldn’t buy the car and expect high levels of practicality however.
The Vauxhall is nice to drive and handles well in the corners and at speed, although as a cabriolet there’s some sponginess with the roof down. The ride quality is excellent and thanks to a series of different engines, there’s certainly a punch when you put your foot down.
Finding a fantastic deal on a used Vauxhall Tigra couldn’t be easier at Motors.co.uk as there are thousands of different autos listed. With impressive price reductions across the board, second hand cars for sale are certainly the way forward if you want a bargain. For a car like the Tigra, paying less only adds to the experience, and overall you’ll get much more.
So while the Vauxhall Tigra had a tumultuous history, the main point is that the modern cabriolet versions were very high quality indeed. For those people who want a small convertible car that looks amazing, drives well and has a huge amount of personality, it’s definitely a winner.
