Introduced into the Yaris family in 2021, the Toyota Yaris Cross is a compact SUV that shares a significant portion of its mechanics with the popular Toyota Yaris hatchback. This popularity has continued into the Yaris Cross, named the 2022 World Urban Car of the Year.

Powering the Yaris Cross is a 1.5-litre petrol engine supported by a self-charging hybrid system. It's capable of reaching an impressive 80 mph in EV mode, but this mode is more suited to in-town driving. The car will activate the petrol engine automatically as it needs to, either to provide more acceleration power or to charge the hybrid batteries.
While it depends on driving style and how much you can use the regenerative braking, the Yaris Cross will travel 559 miles on a full fuel tank on average. This is very competitive compared to its rivals like the Ford Puma, which does not have a full hybrid system (only mild hybrid) and only goes around 378 miles on a full tank.
