  3. Video Review: Ford Edge

It’s been around 20 years since Ford last officially sold a large SUV, that was the Explorer, and while it was spacious and comfortable, it carried with it some typical American traits, the biggest being poor fuel economy. Ford Mondeo Estate

There's a long history to the Ford Mondeo Estate - the model was first launched in 1993 - and over the years there have been many improvements building on a very successful formula.

For example it's always been one of the most spacious estate cars in its class, both for passengers and in its cargo-carrying abilities and with each generation of the Mondeo Estate, this has increased. For example, models manufactured from 2007 onward have a truly massive 1,733L of space when all the rear seats are folded down.

Ford are well known for providing a wide choice of engines, both petrol and diesel, for their ranges and the Mondeo Estate's no exception. The diesels are especially sought after as they combine useful power with very desirable economy.

Handling is excellent for such a large car with precise steering that is also light at low speeds, even when carrying heavy loads and its agility would also put many, smaller, rivals to shame.

Whichever trim level you choose you'll also find equipment levels are excellent with air conditioning, quick-clear windscreens and CD radios fitted as standard.

There are a number of used Mondeo Estates on the market so expect to find some really good deals all around the UK with Motors.co.uk.
