One of the most famous British cars of all time, the Jaguar E-Type is an absolute legend. A truly beautiful car, it’s an icon of the 1960s that has never gone out of fashion. Produced between 1961 and 1975, the E-Type is a triumph of British automotive design and engineering. Over 70,000 units were sold over this time, and even by today’s standards that’s quite a lot. Designed as a small grand tourer, it could be bought in both coupe and cabriolet forms. A variety of versions were released, perhaps the best being the original Series 1 and 1971 Series 3 with its immense 5.3 litre V12 engine. If ever confirmation was needed of the Jaguar’s prestige, Enzo Ferrari himself dubbed it’ the most beautiful car ever made’.

The E-Type looks sensational in any form, be it coupe or cabriolet, roof up or roof down. It’s just a gorgeous piece of automotive art work. The whole shape of it is a treat for the eyes, and every detail from the engine intakes to the classic spoke wheels and the iconic front grille makes you heart beat a bit faster. Inside, everything is finished to the highest possible standards, and lavish isn’t a good enough word to describe it. Comfortable leather seats, an old school steering wheel and lots of quality materials are to be found. While not exactly spacious or practical, it is an absolute treasure for cruising around country roads.

In terms of driving experience, the Jaguar is probably one of the best all round cars ever. On the road it’s perfectly poised and very precise in the handling department, and the ride is also nicely comfortable. Mechanically it’s simply unbeatable, and the finely balanced chassis makes for a lot of fun. As a GT cruiser it’s epic, and as a sporty roadster it’s sublime. The noise from any engine, especially the V12, is enough to make grown men shed a tear. The best about taking the E-Type for a spin is exactly that- you’re out in something extra special.
