Mini One Convertible

The Mini One Convertible is ideal for those seeking stylish, soft-top thrills who aren't too concerned about practicality. Like the hatch it's a fun drive, with the added bonus of the wind in your hair.

One models come with a lively 98bhp 1.6L petrol engine that will take you to 60mph in just over 11 seconds and average around 50mpg thanks to a standard stop-start system. Despite losing the roof the convertible is heavier than the standard hatch, but the eager engine and close ratio gearbox mean you should be able to keep up the pace.

Even a basic Mini One Convertible is relatively well-appointed, with air-con, electric windows, CD player and central locking. Alloys, on the other hand, are still an optional extra. Best to look for models with the optional Pepper pack, which adds alloys, additional lights, an on-board computer and Bluetooth connectivity.

Thanks to a low-slung seating position, even the tallest people should be able to make themselves comfortable in the front, and the rear seats have plenty of room for small children or extra luggage. The roof can be opened and closed at the touch of a button, with both manoeuvres taking just 12 seconds if the weather turns unexpectedly.
