The Vauxhall Meriva Active is a plucky and perky little family car that’s a great solution for anyone who wants something small, affordable and nicely practical. It looks great and features some ingenious features like rear hinged doors, so getting in and out is very easy indeed. With good safety and reliability scores, it’s roomy, well put together and positive to drive. In terms of engines, you’ll note 1.4 litre petrols and 1.3 litre diesels on this mid range model.The Vauxhall Meriva Active does look good, with plenty of funky shapes and nice angles. Inside, it’s more spacious than you might think, and practicality isn’t an issue thanks to the clever doors; there’s also 397 litres of boot space, so everyday tasks are made easy. On the equipment side of things, expect to find air con, alloys, cloth seats, airbags, driver assists, electric windows, CD stereo, cruise control, remote locking and even heated mirrors. To drive, the car feels agile and quick witted, and is comfortable on all types of roads, but especially around town. Get one for £7,000 used.
