Cheltenham is a large ‘spa town’ in Gloucestershire. On the doorstep of the Cotswolds, it’s twinned with the likes of Annecy in France, Weihai in China and also the American town of the same name in the state of Pennsylvania. Population figures number around 115,000, and interestingly Cheltenham has previously been voted as the best place to live in Britain.

Renowned for being the location for the surveillance branch of the security services, GCHQ, the impressive building is certainly something to admire. Cheltenham is also a centre for many large businesses, and has a great deal of prowess in light industry, particularly aerospace engineering.

Originally a market town, it grew in popularity thanks to the natural springs, and was a popular spa retreat in the 18th century. Horse racing has also played a prominent part in the town’s history, and an annual festival still attracts thousands of visitors. Famed for the Regency period architecture as well, Cheltenham boasts numerous classic buildings such as the Municipal Offices.

A cultural centre these days, a range of musical festivals are held every year, featuring big name international acts, as well as home grown talent. What is clear is that the town hasn’t lost sight of its identity, as folk festivals are also hugely popular. Numerous sports clubs also exist, including a myriad of football and rugby teams, a croquet association, as well as the East Glos tennis, squash and hockey club.

The location in relation to the Cotswolds makes the area around Cheltenham fantastic for driving. You really can leave the hustle and bustle behind and experience the best of rural England, while enjoying some exciting roads. It’s a great place to be on 4 wheels.

The great thing about Motors.co.uk is that it services the UK as a whole, and you can find a huge number of second hand cars for sale in Cheltenham especially, and also around larger nearby cities. The simple fact is that paying less and getting more is what it’s all about, and drastically discounted prices as well as excellent quality go a long way to prove that.
