Located in West Lothian, Livingston is a Scottish New Town with a population of over 64,000. It is twinned with Grapevine in the American state of Texas, in addition to Hochsauerlandkreis in Germany. East of Glasgow and West of Edinburgh, it’s in prime position to take advantage of the corridor.
Comparatively new compared to the historic cores surrounding it, Livingston was only constructed in the Post War years to alleviate congestion and overcrowding in larger cities. It did incorporate several historic villages however.
A major part of the Silicon Glen initiative, the town is home to many high tech businesses and pharmaceutical companies, although light manufacturing does play a part as well. Also a notable area for shopping, particularly in The Centre mall, there’s a variety of different outlets and big name stores.
The town also has its own professional football club and a rugby club that have had some success. Noted also for its Round Table and Freemason organisations, it seems there’s something for everyone.
Being in a central location, Livingston is the ideal location for drivers who are looking to take in all that Scotland has to offer. The highlands are certainly within reach, but you don’t have to try that hard to find some stunning vistas a little closer. From windy back roads to tough terrain, it’s a haven, within reason, for all types of vehicles.
Motors.co.uk does indeed have thousands of second hand cars for sale all over the UK, and Scotland is no exception.
