Used Volkswagen

Volkswagen is German for a ''car for the people'' and the first VW Beetle was designed by the person who would become the founder of Porsche. In fact, the first Porsche car was built from Beetle parts. The VW brand has never been pretentious; they make cars that do exactly what is described on the tin, do it very well, and go on and on doing it, which is why a Volkswagen makes such an excellent used car.

Since its launch in 1931 the VW Beetle has seen many changes, but in every one of its styles it is always instantly recognisable as a Beetle. Of course many will argue that the new Beetle, which first made an appearance in 1998, is an entirely different car, and in some ways it is.

Original Beetles had rear mounted engines and in the new Beetles the engine is in the front; but it still looks like a Beetle. There are many different flavours of the new Beetle which encompass economy and high performance and it is available as a Hatchback or Cabriolet.

Another very popular used Volkswagen is the Golf, which is also available in a variety of different formats, which cater for many different needs. They have really great handing, are comfortable, and can give excellent economy, and of course the Golf GTI and the Golf R are the hot hatchbacks with great street credibility, with up to 270 bhp and a 0 to 62mph acceleration time of 5.5 seconds.

If you are looking for a VW Golf, a Beetle or any other VW such as the Jetta, Passsat or Polo, then why not let Motors.co.uk find you a bargain new model close to where you are?

Volkswagen also makes some great 4x4 semi-off-roaders, such as the Touareg, which are great to drive and have tremendous performance as well as having a great carrying capacity. Some versions of the Touareg can deliver a massive 340 bhp. These are quite expensive new, but make excellent used cars.
