Mazda Bongo
The Mazda Bongo is a van with a long and distinguished history that has undergone a variety of transformations over its lifetime. Originally a tiny little motor, it has grown into quite a big boy. If you’re looking for something that works well and doesn’t complain, this is a great option.
Quite the old timer, the first generation was released in 1966 and a whole host have followed since. Quite small and quirky for many years, the Bongo Friendee MPV put an end to that trait with its huge size and 8 seats. Reliable, versatile and eager to please, the Bongo has been sold by Ford, Mitsubishi and Nissan as the Econovan, Delica and Vanette respectively. Clearly it has a lot to offer.
There have been so many different styles over the years that it would be incredibly difficult to describe them all in one go. However in general the Mazda features some funky designs that are somewhat understated but quite unique at the same time. The whole approach with this auto is not to stand out from the crowd and garner attention, rather just get on with the job and do it well. Interior wise, you won’t find anything fancy, just straight down the line commercial, but comfortable at the same time.
Armed with several different petrol and diesel engines, the Bongo is frugal and quite responsive due to its small size. The Friendee however is exactly the opposite and loves to drink a lot and doesn’t have a great deal of sharpness. Despite this, whether you’re making and taking deliveries or simply transporting people, it can be done with ease- the Mazda has a ‘can do’ nature.
The simple fact it’s been around for years means it shouldn’t be overly difficult to find a second hand Mazda Bongo, and browsing around here at Motors.co.uk can make the task even more straightforward. Not only are there thousands of used cars for sale, but costs are very low as well, so it’s like a bargain hunter’s paradise.
If you want a van that’s small, frugal and funky, go for the earlier versions of the Mazda. On the other hand if you’d prefer something a bit larger, more spacious and more confident, the larger Bongo Friendee could be the answer. Whichever you choose though, it’ll be a solid option because that’s what Mazda motors are all about.
