The C-Class is available in four body styles - the convertible Cabriolet, the classic Saloon, a sporty Coupe, and a practical Estate. The body style that is right for you depends on your circumstances. The Saloon is a happy medium between executive refinement and family practicality, while the Estate is clearly better for large families. The 2 door Coupe is all about style and is a blast to drive. Naturally, though, it isn't terribly practical for taking the kids to school. The convertible Cabriolet is all about good times, and it's perfect for a long weekend drive on a beautiful day.
Unlike many car manufacturers, Mercedes keeps it simple with the C-Class options. You have 3 trims to choose from - the SE, the Sport Edition, AMG and the range-topping AMG Line Edition. With a variety of engine options, you can really make your C-Class into a true performance car. While the AMG Line has the most sporty and premium features, the latest entry-level SE is pretty good value for money and offers an excellent variety of tech:
As one of the most essential models in the Mercedes range, the German automakers put a lot of time and money into making sure that the C-Class is at the top of its class. As such, the newest Mercedes-Benz C-Class is packed with great tech. Obviously, the features available will vary depending upon the model, trim, and year:
Mercedes-Benz is synonymous with luxury, and the C-Class fully embraces this. The interior is of very high quality, and sitting in the cockpit is a refined experience. The dashboard is relatively minimal and uncluttered. The design is excellent, with each dial and button serving a purpose. The C-Class doesn't go overboard with in-your-face tech and manages to strike a delicate balance between style and features. The C-Class is brilliant to drive, with sharp handling and acceleration. It's not quite as fun to drive as the likes of a BMW 3 Series, but it makes for a far more comfortable driving experience. Mercedes-Benz cars tend to hold their value well, so you'll be able to sell it down the line and get a decent bit of cash back.
With four body options, there's a C-Class for every family. Smaller families will be okay with the Saloon. Still, if you have any more than 2 kids, you'll definitely want the larger Estate. The Coupe and Cabriolet aren't really suitable as family cars, as space is at a serious premium. For couples with no children, the Coupe or Cabriolet will do fine. The boot space isn't massive but it's definitely liveable - it'll easily handle a big shop and a few large suitcases for the airport run.
The C-Class is packed full of safety kit, including emergency city braking and a considerable amount of airbags. It's also got a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, so you can rest easy knowing you're in an ultra-safe vehicle.
Yes, Mercedes currently manufacturer the 'C 300 de' which is a plug-in hybrid. Interestingly, this hybrid uses an electric motor and a diesel engine, instead of a petrol one. This car is available as either a saloon or an estate.
