As with all performance cars from Audi's tuning division the S6 looks unassuming but is thunderously powerful and a real beast to get behind the wheel of. It offers a superb driving experience, massive speed and high levels of practicality, which makes it an excellent choice for executives with a penchant for performance and a sense of humor- any passengers will have the living daylights scared out of them. Seriously though, it's a magnificent motor that's sure to get the blood pumping.
The S6 has been storming around since 1994 and can be bought in both estate (Avant) and saloon versions. The great thing is that you get all the practicality and user friendliness of the original A6 car- on which it's based- with only a few design modifications and obviously the improved performance. Equipped with the legendary Quattro 4 wheel drive system, beefy engines, some sports suspension and improved brakes, it's got everything you'd need to drive fast in a controlled and effortless manner. There's even a higher performance version called the RS6 which is even more monstrous.
Unlike higher spec cars from other brands, there's very little to distinguish the S6 from the A6 in terms of design. The addition of some extra badges and some subtly aggressive bodywork are all you get, but this is by no means a bad thing because it's pretty stunning to begin with. Quite a long car, it features some nice curves and quite a sleek profile. it's the same story inside as well to be honest, although there is a nice carbon fibre trim. However similar it might be though, there's no question that the Audi is spacious, comfortable and very well equipped. The boots are a good size too, especially in the estate.
You don't have to be a genius to work out that the S6 is awesome out on the road. It has power beyond comprehension thanks to a massive 5.2 litre V10 in newer models, and this'll take you from 0-60mph in 5 seconds with a (limited) top speed of 155. You get the impression that it had to be reigned back quite a lot because unchained it could probably take off and fly. Incredibly precise and direct steering means it's easy to control, and the Quattro system provides insane levels of grip. You an easily push hard and it won't bite, which is a blessing in disguise for most people, however ambitious or confident.
it's quite expensive as you might have gathered, but second hand ones are more than affordable for people with the money. While the oldest generations might be buyable for regular people in this form, the supreme thirst of the engine might prove too much. However, to get your hands on the best deals around, Motors.co.uk is the only place you need to go. The magnificent selection, supreme quality and uber discounted prices come together to make any used Audi S6 the deal of a lifetime.
The plain truth is that if you're a high flying executive who is in need of a practical, versatile and easy to use car for transporting your family then go for the A6. If you want all of that and a nuclear bomb under the bonnet, the S6 is the only way to fly. Massively powerful, it's pure unadulterated fun, and will make everyone else in the car park at work feel a bit short. it's an unassuming car that makes a big statement.
